Most commercially made rosaries are poorly constructed and break easily and quickly, leaving them consigned to a dresser drawer waiting to be repaired or replaced. The beads come unhooked, the chain is weak, the jump rings work loose and the 'machine-made' look is apparent. These rosaries are neither unique, beautiful nor particularly conducive to prayer.

Rosaries by Janine crafts fine, jewellery quality, heirloom rosaries using three different methods of construction. Each of which result in exceptionally strong and durable rosaries. The first method is called wire wrapping. Rosaries made using this unique method of construction take approximately four hours to make and require two additional metres of wire than rosaries made the traditional way. Each bead is double wire wrapped using sterling silver or tarnish resistant silver plated wire. In addition, the crucifix and centerpiece of our wire wrapped rosaries are attached using hand-crafted wire wrapped loops instead of inexpensive jump rings.

The second method we use is the traditional looped rosary (also called chain looped).  Each bead is hooked together using plain loops.  We use a heavy gauge wire to prevent the loops accidentally comming apart.  In addition, we use a hand made figure 8 link to attach the centre and crucifix and not jump rings that can come apart.

Our methods of connecting beads, centres and crucifixes prevents these components from disconnecting with use, over time. The result is a rosary which is a thing of great beauty and inspiration -- a joy to use, a priceless heirloom -- which can be passed from one generation to the next.

Rosaries by Janine also offers beaded rosaries which are made with the same high quality semi-precious stones, crystals and components as our wire wrapped rosaries but which are instead strung on a very strong nylon-coated, stainless steel beading wire. This 26-lb test wire is both soft and flexible yet strong and durable.  This method of construction also allows for some very lovely design innovations that a chain rosary does not.
